The German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt) at the German Environment Agency (UBA) has been the national authority responsible for the implementation of the EU ETS in Germany since 2004 and, starting from 2021, for the national emissions trading (nEHS). To make emissions trading an ecological and economic success, DEHSt works closely with the companies and distributors participating in emissions trading. With its approximately 250 employees, it is part of the German Environment Agency's Department V - Climate Protection, Energy, and the German Emissions Trading Authority.
