The German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt) at the German Environment Agency (UBA) has been the national authority responsible for the implementation of the EU ETS in Germany since 2004 and has also been responsible for the implementation of the national emissions trading (nEHS) since 2021. To make emissions trading an ecological and economic success, DEHSt works closely with the companies and distributors participating in emissions trading. With its approximately 210 employees, it is part of the German Environment Agency's Department V - Climate Protection, Energy, and the German Emissions Trading Authority.
